Five Key HR Trends for 2013

In a recent article, HR guru Dave Ulrich described HR as having moved through a range of stages, from administration to developing HR practices such as reward, succession planning and learning to connecting HR to business strategy. He then went on to describe the next stage in the development of HR, which he calls 'HR outside in'.

Ulrich says that 'HR outside in' will see HR teams look outside of their organisations to customers, investors and communities to define what successful HR looks like. HR Tech Europe - What the panel said . . .

Day one of the HR tech Conference 2012 ended with a panel debate hosted by conference MC, Jon Ingham. Here are some of the highlights . . .

HR Tech Euro day 1 - panel[Panel left to right: Vinzenz Kremer, global head HR IT Consulting, Accenture, David Wilson, founder, Elearnity, Josh Bersin, CEO, Bersin & Associates, Thomas Otter, VP research, Gartner, Sarah White, founder, Sarah White & Associates]

Q: Can you tell us about what you are seeing in new HR technology?

VK: 85% of deals in last year were Saas - this is a revolution (although it is worth noting that Lumesse has seen a roughly 50:50 split this year so there’s still plenty of our customers not looking at SaaS). Key part of this is user experience – just take a look at sites like Worker.com and Jobs to Web. If you go for an SaaS solution you will reduce workload in your shared service centre by half.

Agile Learning: a lesson from sports science

Agile Leaning Sports ScienceIn the last few days I have witnessed amazing performances from the Team GB cycling and rowing teams. Both teams have secured 9 Olympic medals, both have athlete and machine working in perfect harmony.

I found myself asking the question as to what is the magic ingredient which has enabled such a high degree of success. Is it the technology or the talent? Could Team GB take any of the other Olympic riders on a GB bike and turn them into a gold medal rider? Or is it a perfectly blended combination of technology, talent and environment.
